Role Description

UP.Labs is seeking a proven contract Design Lead with a track record of building and designing products in a 0>1 environments to lead a SaaS scheduling optimization platform rapidly scaling within our portfolio. As our design leader within this portfolio organization, you'll be building intuitive, paradigm-shifting, unapologetically simple user experiences. You’ll empathize with users in bringing out a creative solution right from the conceptual stage, conducting user research and translate them into wireframes and prototypes. You’ll be joining a well funded startup, which is part of the UP.Partners ecosystem. You'll have access to an expansive team across product, engineering, design, analytics, marketing, legal, talent, finance, and venture capital available to help advise & scale the portfolio organization quickly.

In this role you will:
  • Immediately step into a business built for success - quickly utilizing the UP.Ecosystem for advisory and connections, work directly with a highly qualified CEO and corporate partner closely invested in the success of this org., and lead the business to achieve product market fit through exceptional design
  • Take charge of the UI/UX design process, leading design research, product testing, user flows, and interactive design elements that enhance user engagement and satisfaction.
  • Report to the VP of Product and work closely with a cross-functional squad to help define and continuously iterate on the product roadmap.
  • Play a pivotal role in defining user experience strategies, ensuring designs meet customer needs and business goals.
  • Partner with UP.Labs and portfolio technical leadership to integrate user experience and design vision in to the product development process, ensuring an uncompromising focus on customer experience.
  • As the business grows, hire, retain, and mentor a world-class team consisting of diverse skill-sets; enhance employee performance via evaluation and coaching.
You should have:
  • Proven experience in UX/UI Design, preferably in a fast paced, high growth tech environment with a portfolio showcasing your skills
  • Experience building AI/ML embedded products
  • Experience in early-stage, venture backed growth companies in consumer apps, sales enablement/intelligence or retail ops
  • Experience with design and prototyping tools (e.g., Sketch, Figma, Adobe Creative Suite)
  • A strong understanding of user-centered design principles, responsive design, and accessibility standards
  • The ability to work cross-functionally with teams across product, engineering, and marketing to translate complex requirements into intuitive, user-friendly solutions.
  • Experience defining early digital products and working with B2B customers
  • High EQ and low ego; you carry an executive presence regardless of years of experience.
  • A track record of innovative design thinking that has contributed to successful digital products.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of conveying design concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences.
  • You’ve helped to recruit and retain world-class talent, while developing a values-oriented, high-performance culture.
